Mary MacQueen, Instructor/TrainerMary MacQueen

Mary is a Police Officer and K-9 handler for two separate Police agencies in Western NY, where she works her Narcotics/Cadaver trained Golden Retriever "Robin", and her Narcotics/Patrol dog “Rommel” . Mary has also been a Volunteer Search and Rescue K-9 handler for many years, and currently serves with Kinzua Search Dogs, Inc. which she founded in 2000. Mary has had the privilege of studying under many talented dog trainers over the years, and has a long history as a dog training professional, specializing in Search and Rescue, obedience, and many types of K-9 detection work. Mary is a graduate of Extreme K-9’s Search & Detection Academy and Remote Collar & Canine Behavioral Psychology Academy, and now serves as an instructor and trainer therein. Her skill areas include Wilderness Air Scent, Mantrailing, Human Remains Detection, Narcotics detection, Avalanche, Snow burial, and Water Search.

Mary's love for her Golden Retrievers has spanned almost 30 years, and as a breeder, perfecting her superb line of "Nitro" Golden Retrievers. Mary’s Goldens have excelled in both the show ring and the demanding world of professional working dogs. She has shown several of her Champion dogs at the Westminster Kennel Club dog show, as well as breeding a dog who has ranked in the top twenty of his breed several times.

Mary has been a long-time member of the National Ski Patrol where she holds National Appointment number 10518. Mary also teaches ski patrollers the fine art of Mountain Travel Rescue and Survival, Outdoor Emergency care, Avalanche Awareness, and Navigation. Her outdoor navigational experience serves our students well in our Airscent, Wilderness, and HRD courses.

Mary's straightforward, caring, and professional manner brings out the best in both the students and the dogs she trains.
